9. Sauces
We are extending our previous warning about sodium in tomato sauces to warn that most sauces and spices also contain a lot of sugar. Canned or canned sauces and spices from around the world – Americans, Mexicans, Asians, Indians and Italians – can wrap a double punch. Please read the labels carefully.
You may find that products made specifically with less sugar contain more salt to balance and vice versa. If everything else fails, we recommend that you be creative at home. You will probably find that fresh herbs in flavored sauces do a better job than salt and sugar anyway.
